On September 6, 2024, Mimaki launched the TS330-3200DS machine, it’s a 3.2m wide roll-to-roll inkjet printer that can output direct sublimation printing and sublimation transfer printing.

The machine is suitable for large-format soft signage applications and home textile markets. Direct sublimation printing is a printing method in which sublimation dye ink is directly printed onto fabric and then developed by heat treatment. On the other hand, sublimation transfer is a printing method in which sublimation dye ink is pre-printed on special transfer paper, which is then layered onto fabric and heat-transferred.

Mimaki launched a 3.2m wide direct sublimation inkjet printer for soft signage applications in 2010. Since then, we have continuously introduced these two types of products to the market.

The "TS330-3200DS" is a hybrid printer that supports both direct printing on fabrics up to 3.2m wide and printing on sublimation transfer paper.

Direct printing is suitable for making soft logos because the ink printed on the fabric penetrates to the back of the fabric, making it visible on both sides.

In addition, sublimation transfer printing is suitable for producing indoor fabrics because it is suitable for thick fabrics and indoor fabrics that are easy to stretch and are not suitable for direct printing.

In terms of functions, it is equipped with an optimal printing mechanism for each substrate such as fabric and sublimation transfer paper. This can be changed in real time by the operator.

For direct printing on fabric, it is equipped with a "spacer" that prevents ink marks from appearing on the back of the fabric and a "traction roller" that stabilizes fabric conveyance, suppresses fabric sagging, and outputs sharp and stable images.

For transfer paper printing, a removable platen (printing plate surface) is installed to reduce wrinkles in the transfer paper of the printed part, and substrate waste due to print head wear can be reduced even when printing for a long time.
